Hingham-HULL 15s LOSE HEARTBREAKER TO LYNN IN STATE TOURNEY
The HHBR 15s were a whisker away from winning their second state tournament game against Lynn but unraveled in the final inning. Evan Flanagan pitched a gem, striking out 8, scattering 5 hits over 7 innings and only walking 2. The game was a scoreless pitcher's duel until HHBR capitalized on a Lynn error. Evan Flanagan drew a walk and, in an attempt to pick him off, the Lynn pitcher overthrew the ball allowing Flanagan to get to second. Flanagan then stole third and tagged up on a C.J. Mulieri sacrifice fly and slid in under the tag at home for the only score of the game. HHBR maintained that 1-0 lead until the bottom of the 7th. inning. In the bottom of the 7th., Lynn scored two unearned runs to steal the game.
The HHBR 15s play next on Sunday the 25th. at 5:15 p.m. v. Medford at Siever Field in Plymouth.
