3. Expansion of Hingham-Hull Babe Ruth
15 year olds from Cohasset were added to the program/charter last year
Frank Jones from Senior Babe Ruth was present and outlined the structure of how it is organized. Senior Babe Ruth is on a different charter than Hingham- Hull Babe Ruth. Players 16 - 18 are eligible although players age 15 can play with a waiver from Babe Ruth.
He limits the team to 15 players in order to allow for good playing time. The tryouts are held simultaneously with the tryouts for Legion Baseball and he does not know the numbers that will turn out for tryouts until the day of tryouts because there is no registration.
The organizational meetings start in January. By March or April, there is a need to commit to having a team and $385 has to be paid in April to register a team.
The game schedule consists of 16-18 games. Games are played against towns with other Senior Babe Ruth teams and on occasion against towns that do not have Legion teams which improves the quality of their Senior Babe Ruth teams.
16 year olds can double roster with both Senior Babe Ruth and Legion teams.
