Meeting Minutes 2/22/09
Present: Igo, Hutchins, Thorne, Trubia, Blomberg, Flanagan, Peloquin, Sherman

I. Registration
The registration deadline is March 8th. 230 registration mailings were sent out. It is estimated that 180-190 will be the final number registered.Colin Pomroy will be bringing the registration forms to the Middle School and St. Paul's school. Rob Blomberg will take registration forms to Barker Basketball and Budd Thorne will supply copies of registrations forms to the Rec. A registration announcement will continue to run in the Hingham Journal.
It was agreed to form a Hardship Committee to address hardship requests if we receive a number of fee waivers given the current economy. The proposed committee, if needed, would be formed after registration is closed.

II. Scheduling
Rick Linehan will be asked to put together a proposed schedule with the variables of 12, 13 or 14 teams, keeping in mind the high school and legion schedules at the High School and Cronin Field. There were 12 teams last year with most teams having 13 or 14 players per team. 175 players were registered last year.
Practices will begin on April 6th., provided that the fields are officially
open for use. Games will begin on Monday, April 27th. and will end on approximately June 7th with the playoffs to follow.

III. Fields
Jim Trubia reported that HHBR has secured permits for use of the L Street field on Tuesdays and Fridays so far with the hope of securing the use of the L Street field for Thursdays also.
Budd Thorne will take care of permits for both the Junior Varsity and Freshman baseball fields at the High School and for Cronin Field.
Permits will be sought for April 1st. - November 1st.

IV. User Fees
Because HHBR registration forms were already sent out prior to the institution of an increase in users fees by the Rec Department, the Rec Commission decided not to increase the HHBR user fees for this year. The user fee will remain at $5 per player for 2009. In 2010, it will increase to $10 per player or the Rec Commission is also considering looking at the hours of useage and charging an hourly rate. HHBR is generally permitted for 1,490 hours of useage.
User fees in the Town of Hull are still being debated. Jim Trubia foresees a maximum of $150 that HHBR will be charged. More to come on this issue in Hull.

V. Sponsorships
HHBR again received the following through a donation by Chevy Baseball: ball buckets, scorebooks and first aid kits.
Budd Thorne will approach the McNultys at Hingham Lumber about committing to a 3 year sponsorship for $1,000 to bring this account up to date.
The following sponsors will be approached to gauge current interest: Cirone Chevy, Gauthier & Connors, Frank O'Brien, Jamie's Pub, Podiatry, A Mortgage, CATZ, Hingham Police, Thomas Auto Body, Sons of Italy, U.S.S. Salem, Rotary, Bare Cove Fire Museum

VI. Equipment
Frank O'Brien will send a check for baseballs to Anaconda. The amount that Hingham Little League already paid on this invoice should be deducted to determine the amount that HHBR owes on the same invoice.
Frank O'Brien has this invoice.
There is still a need to buy plastic bins for storage and to order hats and socks. No new equipment is needed this year.

VII. Managers
Managers who have committed thus far are:
Linehan, Spirito, Donovan, Pomroy, Madden, Glenzel, Carlson, Blomberg and Morrison is probable. Rob Blomberg will continue to follow-up on this in coordination with Colin Pomroy.

VIII. Summer Baseball
It was proposed to form a board to run the South Division of the "Braintree League" The South Division last year consisted of Kingston, Hanover, Marshfield, Hingham, Duxbury, Whtiman, Scituate and Weymouth.
Mark Igo and Rob Blomberg will contact representatives from all towns in the South Division to gauge their interest in having a meeting to organize the administration of this league. The fee of $250 per team currently charged by the "Braintree League" is considered onorous for the services supplied.

IX. Umpires
Umpire fees will increase by $5 per game this year.

X.Insurance and Charter
Frank O'Brien submitted the charter and insurance with payment. Melissa Flanagan needs to follow-up to obtain additional insureds certificates for the Towns of Hingham and Hull.
