BOD 1/22/08 Meeting Minutes
Next Meeting: 2/12/08 at 7:00 p.m. NEW LOCATION!! 738 MAIN STREET, HINGHAM. See note XII. for directions.


Present:
J. Trubia, M. Fallon, R. Blomberg, L. Peloquin, M. Flanagan, R. Hutchins, R. Magner, M. Igo, W. Donovan, E. Sherman

I. Registration
Registration packets have been mailed out. The registration deadline is 3/1/08 and playing fees remained the same at $125.00 per player, $275.00 for two or more family members.It is anticipated that there will be approximately 140 ballplayers, 12 teams with 14 players per team.
L. Peloquin will put registration announcement in the Journal
Cohasset and Norwell did not respond to E. Sherman's contact and therefore will not be integrated into the league this year.

II. Finances
There is approximately $11,000 remaining in the account prior to receipt of registration funds.

III. Equipment
R. Hutchins provided an inventory of current equipment
- Bats
It was agreed to purchase 14 bats (10 32" bats and 4 33" bats) at $50-$60 per bat in order to provide each team with a bat for the equipment bag.
- Equipment Bags
It was agreed that 12 40 x 16 x 16 equipment bags are needed. L. Peloquin will contact Bruce Corwin re: Chevrolet equipment promotional offer used last year.
- Uniforms
There are a large number of shirts missing from some teams but there are currently enough shirts for 13 teams at 14 shirts per team. Efforts will be made to get the missing shirts returned including a blast e-mail to all of last year's managers. R. Hutchins will go through District uniforms turned in through Carol Falvey to check their condition L. Peloquin will contact Fred Siegel at Lapels Dry Cleaning to inquire about having Lapels clean the uniforms at the end of the season in return for a sponsorship.
- Balls
It was agreed to purchase 90 dozen Diamond baseballs from Anaconda
- Socks and Hats
Need to purchase for all teams
- Ice Packs and Medical Kits
There are sufficient numbers of these for the upcoming season
- Catcher's Equipment
It was agreed to hold off on any catcher's equipment except for the purchase of 6 full masks and 12 knee savers.
- Scorebooks
Have 25 of these
The general idea agreed upon is to have 6 sets of equipment in storage

IV. Season Dates
- It was agreed that the start date for this season will be April 28, 2008.
- The Bud Thorne Classic will be held on May 24th., 25th. and 26th. this season.
- The playoff will begin June 2nd.
- The summer Districts will start the last week in June

V. Managers
The list of last year's managers was reviewed re: those who are anticipated to return and those who are not. Approximately 7 of last year's managers will not be returning. There was discussion re: new managers to be considered who have expressed interest and who can be approached about managing this upcoming season. The registration forms will be checked for volunteers.

VI. Fields
The permit for the L Street Field in Hull has been filed. In 3 weeks, Barbara Pye will be approached re: the High School/ Union St. fields and Rec will be contacted re: Cronin Field

VII. Umpires
This year's rate will be $50/game per umpire if 2 umpires are used for the game. If 1 umpire is used, the rate will be $75/game for that umpire. It was agreed to schedule 2 umpires for weekend games and playoffs and 1 umpire for weekday games. R. Magner will contact Billy Hess re: this request.

VIII. Bud Thorne Classic
Will be held on May 24th. - 26th. at Cronin Field. W. Donovan is in charge of this event. There was discussion re: having a hot dog cookout during the games and letting the players know that this tournament is useful to the coaches in determining the summer District teams. Last year there were two 15 year old teams, three 14 year old teams and three 13 year old teams in the tournament.

IX. Insurance
The application and payment is due April 1st. M. Flanagan is preparing this.

X. Sponsors
The fee for sponsors will remain at $400 per team for 1 year. There was discussion regarding L. Peloquin follow-up with those 4 sponsors who did not pay last year, with the sponsors who will most likely return this year and potential new sponsors if needed.

XI. Miscellaneous
A letter was read from the DPW soliciting donations for the recycling bins at the fields in return for having the organization's name put on the bin. It was agreed that $200 would be donated for 1 bin.

XII. Next Meeting - NEW LOCATION!!!
The next BOD meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on February 12, 2008 at 738 Main Street, Hingham. 738 Main Street is a gray office building located on the left side of Main Street approximately 4 houses before the intersection of South Pleasant and Cushing Street if you're heading toward Queen Anne Corner from center Hingham. It looks like a regular house and has a circular drive in front and parking to the side.
