BOD 2/12/08 Meeting Minutes
Present: Igo, Thorne, Mondo, Trubia, Blomberg,Coveney, Peloquin, Sherman, Hutchins, O'Brien, Flanagan
I. Registration
Registration packets have been received. Registration is open until March 8th. Leo Peloquin will put announcement in the Hingham Journal re: registration
II. Equipment & Uniforms
All equipment itemized at the last meeting has been ordered and received. Equipment invoices were given to the Treasurer, Frank O' Brien.
Managers Spirito and Stanley have their complete set of uniforms and equipment bags from last season.
- Uniforms
It was agreed to have Bud Thorne purchase 60 red vests with blue under t-shirts for the 3 Summer District Teams
III. Season Dates
- The start date for the season remains April 28, 2008.
- The annual Bud Thorne Classic Tournament will be held on May 24th. 25th. and 26th. with 12 teams participating.
IV. Teams
It is anticipated that there will be 12 teams with 14 players on a team.
V. Fields
The permit for the Hull field has been secured for Tuesdays and Fridays starting at 5:30 p.m. No new inning is to be started after 7:30 p.m.
Re: the Hingham High School fields, Mark Igo will contact Linda Hill and David Kilory re: field conditions. Needed improvements include backstops and bases. Bud Thorne will contact Barbara Pye re: permits for use of these fields.
VI. Managers
The following managers have been confirmed for the upcoming season: Rob Blomberg, Bill Donovan, Rick Linehan, Bob Madden, Rich Magner, Dan Morrison, Leo Peloquin, Mark Schlosky, Bob Spirito, Skip Stanley and Paul Falvey. One slot remains and will be filled pending confirmation from interested parties and review of interest indicated in the registrations.
VII. Umpires
2 umpires for weekend games and 1 for weekday games have been confirmed. However, 2 umpires for weekday games remains a possibility.
VIII. Game Schedule
Tom Coveney will formulate a season game schedule.
IX. Sponsorships
Leo Peloquin ran through the potential sponsors to be confirmed. A complete list of sponsors will be compiled upon confirmation.
X. League Rules
It was agreed to add the Draft Rules to the Local League Rules as well as the District and Summer League Participation Guidelines and District /Summer A Team Manager and Player Selection.
In reviewing the Local League Rules, it was agreed that the following language needed to be added:
- Pitching Rules
"No pitcher playing high school baseball can pitch until the high school season is completed unless written consent from their high school coach is obtained."
"All innings pitched must be entered on the website by the winning manager with the game score."
- New Borrowing Player(s) Rule
"Managers shall submit a Game report to the website within 48 hours ....."
- Conduct
Socks are to be added as part of the required uniform.
The following language needs to be stricken:
- Pitching Rules
"No pitcher may enter the game from the bench in the middle of an inning."
- New Borrowing Player(s) Rule:
"A player from one team may not be borrowed by another team more than three times in the entire season."
XI. Draft Process
Player Evaluation Night will take place on March 24th. at 7:00 p.m. at 738 Main Street.
The Player Draft will take place on March 30th. at 2 p.m. at the Rec Center. Bud Thorne will secure the room for the Draft.
XII. Storage
It was agreed to look into the availability of storage space at the new Field House on Beal Street.
